Nail correction - systems

As nail correction systems we offer the Erki-technique and the Onyclip-technique.

Both systems lead to a pressure relief of the nail bed groove and are applied to:

unguis incarnatus (ingrown toe nail)
deformation of big toe´s nail
nails cut too short
inflammation in the nail bed groove
general nail aches when walking

The Erki-technique takes use of plastic hooks, which are stuck onto the nail with an adhesive gel.
The Onyclip-technique works with a spring-hard plastic-coated high-grade steel strip, which is painlessly stuck onto the nail.

		Erki-technique:
		Plastic hooks are stuck onto the nail with an adhesive gel. Into the hooks rubber bands are attached. The latter have different diameters. Thus, you can choose the tractive force. This force immediateley cares for a flattening of the nail and lifts up the nail edges what directly leads to a relief from pain. Advantages of such a treatment are: tractive force can be individually adjusted (by choosing a suitable position of the hooks) tractive force can be dosed and applied in a three-stage-process due to 3 different sizes of the rubber bands The period of application is dependent on speed of nail growth, usuallly several months. A nail renews in approximately 9 - 12 months.
		If you choose the Erki-technique, steps are as follows:
		prepare the patient´s body of the nail (e.g. flattening, cleaning) adhesive bond the Erki-hooks to the nail choose the suitable rubber band connect the rubber band to the first hook pull the protection tube over the rubber band attach the rubber band to the other hook adhesive bond the mid of the rubber band to the nail after 3-4 weeks check the system, in case apply new rubber bands

		Onyclip-technique:
		When the both ends of the Onyclip strip are stuck onto the nail, the strip becomes bowed. The resulting force immediately reliefs the nail edges from pressure. The nail edges are pulled upwards which enables a quick inflammation-inhibition. The nail is flattened and easily grows over the soft tissue. Advantages of a treatment with Onyclips are tractive force is individually adjustable (via pre-bending) 2 general force-classes by using 2 different thicknesses of Onyclip (0.10 and 0.15 mm) Onyclip construction is re-usable for a specific patient tractive force can be adjusted to one side only Onyclip can be applied also as a preventive means
		If you choose the Onyclip-technique, steps are as follows:
		prepare the patient´s body of the nail (e.g. flattening, cleaning) measure the width of the nail cut the Onyclip according to the nail´s width and soften the edges in case pre-bend the Onyclip (adjust the tractive force) de-grease the Onyclip and the body of the nail put some adhesive gel to one end of the Onyclip attach the Onyclip to the nail approximal 1 Onyclip-width behind the problem area and establish contact with the help of the spatula proceed with the other end the same way if desired use nail polish after 10-20 days modify the position of the Onyclip (reason: therapeutic outcome realized to that point) application period corresponds to the nail growth (usually several months)

Background-knowledge

Unguis incarnatus (lat., ingrown nail) is a chronic suppurating inflammation mostly of the inner, rarely the outer or both nail bed grooves of the big toe, sometimes another toe. Pressure is the most often cause, rarely infections or injuries. The painful suffering is promoted by shoes too tight and nails cut too short.
In addition the form of the nail can be a further cause, if its edges are bowed downwards and cut into the nail bed grooves (1).
